THESE STEPS WILL HELP YOU RESTORE AN ATWATER MODEL 40 (MODELS 37 AND 44 SIMILAR) - SEE POWER SUPPLY REPAIR PAGE TO REPAIR THE PU

REMOVE THE CHASSIS FROM THE METAL ENCLOSURE. 3 SLOTTED BOLTS EACH END. REMOVE TOP PLATE FROM THE PU - 12 NUTS
TESTING THE ANTENNA AND VOLUME CIRCUIT:
UNSOLDER CENTER TAP OF THE ANTENNA TRANSFORMER (UNDER 1ST TUNING CONDENSER) AND PLACE DIGITAL MULTIMETER ON THE ANTENNA TERMINALS. TURN THE VOLUME CONTROL - READINGS SHOULD BE .5OHMS TO 400OHMS. RECONNECT THE CENTER TAP ON THE TRANSFORMER
ANTENNA CONNECTIONS - REAR OF CABINET
CONNECT OHMS METER ON THESE ANTENNA CONNECTORS WHILE TURNING VOLUME CONTROL
GRID LEAK RESISTOR
REPLACE 2MEG GRID LEAK RESISTOR (ORIGINAL ONE IS GLASS)
REPLACE BYPASS CAPACITORS IN CAN
USE HEAT GUN TO HEAT TAR AND REMOVE 3 CAPACITORS - REFERENCE SCHEMATIC FOR THEIR LOCATIONS
