2002 Pontiac Transam PCV tube replacement.

This article shows how to replace a PCV tube in a 02' pontiac tube. The PCV (positive crankcase valve) is required to make the car run correctly and prevent codes P0171 and P0174. When on idle, the throttle plate is closed causing a high vacuum condition. The PCV valve is pulled open due to this vacuum and actually closes off internally to prevent a vacuum loss. This was written in 2012 and the average prce of the tube is $90.

Original defective PCV tube - 'Y' at rear of engine melted apart.

Remove ground strap, front right side of engine under PCV valve. 10mm wrench.

Remove #7 coil from left rear valve cover. Remove air valve backet (10mm wrench)- Bracket = Green PCV hose = Yellow Red=air bracket stud. Bend bracket up to expose PCV hose connection.
